Health Benefits of Tequila

Before we begin, 100% Blue Agave.

Did you know the blue agave plant has many health benefits? We did our research and found different ways tequila can help with your health.

Starting off the list is how tequila can help treat the flu or a cold. Tequila can help relieve a sore throat and kill bacteria. With a lime, you get that extra vitamin C which can help battle a cold. However, this was a remedy prescribed by Mexican Doctors in the 1930’s, so it’s a little outdated, but hey, it’s worth a shot (pun intended).

Wanting to lose weight but think you have to cut out all alcohol? Don’t compromise! Tequila can actually help boost metabolism and in turn help you lose weight. A shot before a meal will improve your metabolism.

If you or someone you know has type 2 diabetes, this is great news! The American Chemical Society explains that “agavins, a natural form of sugar found in the agave plant, are non-digestible and can act as a dietary fiber, so they would not raise blood glucose…we have found that since agavins reduce glucose levels and increase GLP-1, they also increase the amount of insulin”.

Tequila has a healthy amount of inulin, a substance that stimulates the growth of good bacteria in your stomach. This bacteria does everything for your body, helping your digestive system, strengthening your immune system are some examples. A shot of tequila before and after a meal will do wonderful things for your digestion.

It is best to stick with 100% Blue Agave Tequila. You’ll find that there are tequilas that do not use 100% Blue Agave, as regulation states that tequila only needs to be 51%. The tequilas that aren’t 100% gives off the bad reputation of giving a terrible hangover or headache and give off being anything but healthy. The health benefits come from a healthy amount consumed. An average shot does plenty to reap the health benefits of tequila. If you are going to drink tequila for celebration or health, we only recommend the best 100% Blue Agave tequila : 3 Amigos Tequila. Please Drink Responsibly. Salud!
